43rd Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN)
Dependable Computing and Communications Symposium (DCCS)
June 24-27, 2013
Budapest, Hungary
Everyday life is inherently dependent on computerized networked systems whose complexity is rapidly growing. Providing resilience to malicious attacks, accidental faults, design errors, and unexpected operating conditions is therefore becoming simultaneously more important and more challenging. If these systems are unreliable, insecure or untrustworthy, significant harm can result, and users will abandon them, thus squandering opportunities for progress.
Authors are invited to submit original papers on the research and practice of creating, validating, deploying, and maintaining dependable systems. All aspects of dependable systems are within scope, including but not limited to:
- operating systems, databases, embedded and real-time systems, virtualization
- testing, validation, and verification for software, hardware, and systems of systems
- dependable microprocessors, VLSI, storage systems, and other hardware
- SCADA, automotive, aerospace, and medical systems, smart power grid
- networking, Internet and WWW, wireless and mobile, sensor networks
- distributed systems, grid and cloud systems, utility/on-demand computing
- virtual worlds, online social networking
- intrusion detection and tolerance
- adaptive and self-managing systems
We welcome research papers, practical experience papers, and tool descriptions. We will favor work that explores new territory, continues a significant research dialog, or reflects on experience with (or measurements of) state-of-the-art implementations. A good paper will demonstrate that the authors:
- are attacking a significant problem,
- have devised an interesting and compelling solution,
- have demonstrated the practicality and benefits of the solution,
- have drawn appropriate conclusions,
- have clearly described what they have done, and
- have clearly articulated the advances beyond previous work.
Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, clarity, relevance, and correctness. In addition to citing relevant, published work, authors must relate their DSN-DCCS submissions to relevant submissions of their own that are simultaneously under review for this or other venues. The program committee reserves the right to ask authors to provide copies of related simultaneously submitted papers.
Submissions will be done electronically; detailed instructions for the submission process can be found on the submission guidelines page.
